Technology Sales & Professional Services · Salesforce Ecosystem

Joe McQuillan

What makes me tick isn't just the close. It's being a trusted resource — someone who helps diagnose the real problem and find the right path forward. It's building partnerships that last.

I help organizations turn complex business challenges into practical technology solutions — sitting between business leaders and tech teams to find the right fit. Ten-plus years in technology sales, eight-plus in the Salesforce ecosystem, close to $13M in closed business.

The Arc

I didn't start at the top of a sales org — I started on the phones.

Started on the phones

Cut my teeth as a Market Development Rep, prospecting cold into Fortune 500 accounts. That grind taught me to build a pipeline from nothing — the foundation for everything since.

Built a practice from nothing

Made the jump to full-cycle sales as an Account Executive, closing the largest client in company history in year one. That opened the door to something bigger: building Redpath's brand-new Higher Education practice from scratch with Salesforce's own Partner Alliance team.

Grew into the company's top ranks

Promoted to Senior Account Manager, then went on to lead Redpath's largest, most established practice — generating $7.3M in closed sales and ranking #2 in the company's 15-year history.

Brought the playbook with me

As Account Director at this end-to-end Salesforce Summit Partner, I built nonprofit, K-12, and higher education business from the ground up — generating $5.4M in closed sales.

$5.4M closed over 3.5 years

Across both firms, the throughline is the same: I've been most effective building something new, or growing what's established into more. And my longest-lasting relationships trace back to one thing — a real connection built on trust, not just a really good pitch.

How I Work

I sell the way I'd want to be sold to.

Real discovery, not a script — the relationship matters more than any single deal. My approach is built on the Sandler methodology, but that's just mechanics. What drives it: doing right by the people I work with, full stop.

Genuine over transactional

I'd rather be a real friend and partner than a vendor contact in someone's inbox — high-touch and caring, not just when there's a deal on the table.

Trust before transaction

I aim to be who a client's leadership calls before the project's even defined — because they trust the recommendation to be honest, not convenient.

Discovery before pitching

I want to understand an organization's actual goals and constraints before I talk about solutions.

Speaking both languages

I'm not an engineer or architect, but I've spent years bridging business and technology — across sales, service, marketing, and now AI and data strategy — translating problems into solutions everyone understands.

Partnering, not just selling

Some of my best results come from working directly alongside Salesforce's own teams — co-selling so the client gets one coordinated recommendation, not competing pitches.

Playing the long game

Account growth and retention matter more to me than any single deal. They only happen by staying engaged — a trusted, reliable resource long after the first sale — because as trust grows, so does the partnership.

Proof Points

A few stories, not a scoreboard.

Higher Education & Data 360

Winning the evaluation, not just the architecture

One of the most technically complex wins of my career: moving a major university off a legacy platform onto Salesforce's next-gen marketing product — a 130-department migration built on a novel Data 360 architecture bridging two separate CRMs. But the deal wasn't won on architecture alone. It came down to the trust I built with the end users running the evaluation.

High-Tech / Enterprise Software

Landing and growing a flagship account

In my first year carrying full ownership, I onboarded the largest client in Redpath's history — an enterprise software company that became a cornerstone relationship. It shows the same consultative approach works whether the client is mission-driven or purely commercial.

Global Enterprise

Scaling trust inside a Fortune 500 giant

Built trusted relationships across multiple business units at one of the world's largest e-commerce and logistics companies — including their international shipping operations and last-mile delivery partner program, supporting operations in 13+ countries. Proof the same relationship-first approach scales inside the world's largest, most complex organizations.

AI & Data Strategy

Helping organizations get AI-ready

More recently, I've sold AI and data strategy engagements — auditing an organization's systems and data so the right foundation is in place before they dive into an AI initiative. It's the same candor I brought to mission-driven organizations navigating digital transformation: tell clients what they actually need to succeed, not just what closes the deal.

Foundational Skill

Earning trust before I had a title to lean on

Before I carried a real sales bag, I was cold-calling Fortune 500 accounts with nothing but a phone — finishing 2017 ranked #1 on the inside sales team, with $10M+ in qualified opportunities generated. That's where I learned trust isn't handed to you by a title — it's built, one honest conversation at a time. That lesson still shapes how I open every relationship today.

Outside the Numbers

What actually matters to me.

I'm in this line of work because I genuinely enjoy the problem-solving: being a trusted resource, and helping organizations get to where they truly want to be.

Much of my career has been in the nonprofit and education sectors, and I'm proud of it — I got to help organizations with incredible missions make a real impact. That experience is meaningful, not limiting: what I'm focused on now is continuing to do purposeful work, with organizations and people that are worth building something lasting with.

That's the thread connecting everything on this page — not a title, not an industry, just a way of working: be genuine, be honest, be someone people trust to look out for them. Doing right by a client is almost always what's best for both of us, in the long run.
